Traffic in Finland is well organised, but it is important for drivers to be familiar with local traffic rules. The general emergency number is 112, and is used to alert the police, rescue services and ambulance. Seatbelts are mandatory in all seating positions, and children under 135 cm tall must travel in an approved and appropriate safety seat. Driving in winter requires caution, as slippery conditions and snow can significantly impair driving conditions. The use of winter tyres is mandatory during the winter season.
